We are currently seeking a high performing talent to join the Financial Planning and Analysis team in the role as Manager Business Finance, Accounting and Analysis. The role reports to the Senior MI Planning and Analysis Manager of HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad.

This role serves as the key business partner to the Financial Planning and Analysis stakeholders, influencing the business strategy and shaping the forward-looking outlook for HSBC Malaysia (comprising HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad, HSBC Offshore Banking Unit Labuan, HSBC Malaysia (Trustee) Berhad and HSBC Corporate Advisory (Malaysia).

We will consider candidates from across a range of financial skillsets including analytical, commercial, accounting, control and operational.

Principal Responsibilities:

Decision support and insights

  • Work together with an extended team in the Centre of Excellence (GFC Team) in Finance in the delivery of all Management Information, performance insights, strategic planning and forward-looking analysis.
  • Shapes the Financial Analysis for the bank, provide guidance and ensure consistency of reporting and analysis.
  • Supports Senior MI Planning and Analysis Manager to provide the bank’s EXCO and Board with timely and insightful management information, analysis and commentary to support strategic decision making and drive better business performance.
  • Provides support to Business Finance teams to align Budget, Forecast, Targets and insights on allocation methodology.
  • Plays a key role in performing analyses / what-if scenarios in respect of key performance metrics for the bank, both historical and forward-looking. The analyses are required for identifying business risks and opportunities, supporting Board/EXCO meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure delivery of intended outcomes, with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Challenges the status quo and improving the planning process, e.g. reviewing / challenging the forecast prepared by the Global Businesses, HOST and Global Functions, helping to drive a more accurate forecast for the bank. Stakeholders/leadership and teamwork

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Ensures all work is completed in accordance with appropriate Group standard and practices
  • Supports delivery of Global Finance strategic goals
  • Supports all regulatory and compliance matters
  • Supports the team in compliance to accounting policies and control
Requirements
  • A graduate degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or possess a professional accounting qualification;
  • More than 5 years of working experience in banking/financial institutions, accounting, auditing or related fields;
  • Sound understanding of drivers of profitability and returns in financial institutions.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge in digital skills and programming language (e.g. Python, Qlik) will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience of preparation of reports and analysis, commentary suitable for presentation at senior management level.
  • An ability to challenge or support business decisions thoughtfully, precisely and confidently.
  • A commercial mindset and outlook.
  • There is a large element of ad hoc requirements within this role – the role holder will need to evidence ability to work under time pressure, flexible, practical and build excellent stakeholder relationships whilst carrying out his/her core responsibilities. A strong team work ethic is critical.
