We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Python developer.

In this role, you will:

• API/Web development to automate day to day activities for Kubernetes request engineering team
• Build tools and automation to manage the clusters and components – Preferred Python programming language
• Write Clean, maintainable and efficient code using Python
• Develop and integrate APIs and third-party services
• Identify toil within platform management tasks, and eliminate where possible through scripting and automation
• Gather and analyse metrics from cluster components and services to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
• Partner with Core Engineering and Services Engineering teams to improve platform and components through automated testing and verification where possible
• Ensure cluster and component versions are updated predictably, according to a desired version scheduled defined by the Core Engineering team
• Respond to platform incidents escalated by application teams.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related field
• Proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks like Django, Flask or FastAPI
• Strong understanding of OOP, RESTful API development and database design
• Experience with relational (PostgresSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
• Familiarity with version control tools e.g. Git
• Should have working knowledge of CI/CD tools
• Experience with Kubernetes, preferably GKE on-prem
• Should be well versed with kubernetes architecture
• Experience using load balancers with Kubernetes ingress controllers
• Experience with Service Mesh or Overlay Network technology, such as Istio, Linkerd, or Envoy
• Experience with distributed storage technologies like NFS, HDFS, Ceph, S3
• Experience with container registries and image scanning
• Experience with query languages like SQL, PromQL, Splunk Processing Language
• Experience with Splunk log analysis
• Experience with GCP
