Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Risk Regulatory Reporting Manager.
Principal Responsibilities
- This role sits in Wholesale Credit and Market at regional level and covers a large scope of risks, stakeholders and geographies
- Wholesale Credit and Market Risk (WMR) department within HBAP Risk prepares HKMA returns on a regular basis
- The Risk Regulatory Reporting team within WMR ensures that works together with ASP Finance team to prepare HKMA returns, such as, Asset Quality, Loan Classification and BELR part 4, 7 and 8
The role requires:

- Supporting the consolidation of countries submission
- Reviewing system extraction and prepare gap analysis of any variances
- Working with various teams (eg. Finance) to update and understand requirements from HKMA
- Preparing HKMA returns on regular basis
- Providing supports to ad-hoc requests from HKMA
- Support Credit Risk related regulatory reporting issues for HSBC and providing advice as required
- Take responsibility for the timely preparation of regulatory reports and returns within Area Management Hong Kong as required by HKMA
- Prepare Internal Risk MI for Wholesale and Market Risk, Risk Management Meeting, HSBC Board, Global Risk and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with Finance to produce and continually refine Basis of Preparation documents which explain how regulatory reports are produced
- University degree and/or post graduate qualification with a relevant quantitative content
- Previous relevant experience in risk management and regulatory reporting
- Previous exposure to large projects involving technical IT considerations
- Understanding of risk management techniques across a diverse portfolio of assets
- Understanding of financial products including derivatives, macro-economics, econometrics and financial markets
- Strong knowledge of financial markets and business principles
- Good communication skills (oral and written) are essential
- Ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear manner
- Ability to make decisions quickly
- Self-starter, who can think proactively
- Demonstrate the ability to learn abstract concepts and to operate effectively against uncertainty and on unfamiliar ground
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with a various range of stakeholders including technical and non-technical staff
- Ability to prioritize effectively and meet tight deadlines when required
- Able to interact effectively with senior management
- Experience in interacting with regulators preferred
