We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist
In this role, you will:
Mongo and SQL Database Administrator for a DevOps infrastructure delivery role; configuring, delivering, and supporting SQL and MongoDB server environments and services.
Windows server administration, IIS, patch management.
Work across one or more application development DevOps ‘pods’ to consume and deploy centrally provided services from Distributed Compute.
Responsible for implementation of new technologies and the on-going support of hardware and software solutions across both live and non-live environments.
Deliver and provide technical support for CTO technologies while conforming to high quality standards and best practices, maintaining and improving SLA’s, and ensuring compliance to HSBC policies at all times.
Actively participate to achieve organisation objectives for efficiency. Perform pro-active analysis on day-to-day work to obtain automation on deliveries thereby reducing repetitive and standardised tasks/processes.
Advise on MongoDB/SQL Database design, development, and best practice for Distributed Compute, throughout project lifecycles from build through to ITSA and implementation processes.
Write Windows / Shell scripts to automate and streamline BAU tasks. Building automation capabilities to support the execution of operational activities.
Draft and maintain standards and procedures for service component capacity management. Ensures the correct implementation of standards and procedures.
Pro-actively review information in conjunction with service level agreements to identify any capacity issues and specify any required changes. Work with application teams to agree and implement short- and medium-term modifications to demand.
Asses, analyse, develop, document, and implement changes based on requests for change. Understanding of functional requirements and translation of business requirements into technical specifications
Provide troubleshooting support in incident and perform root cause analysis to prevent problems happening. Appropriate measures are taken to improve and sustain high quality and prevent recurrence.
Provide consultancy, guidance and collaborate with other infrastructure, application, support and engineering teams.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
Managing SQL and MongoDB Server databases and Administrator /Configure Windows Servers and related applications.
Extensive experience of 7+ years with SQL and MongoDB Server Administration, Configuring and maintaining database servers and processes, Performance Monitoring/Tuning/Optimization, Backups, restores and recovery procedures, High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MongoDB and SQL Server, Windows server administration and Active Directory knowledge.
Implement and maintain MongoDB database clusters, including replica sets and sharded clusters, ensuring data distribution and fault tolerance.
Experience on Dev-ops automation tools like Jenkins/Ansible /GITHUB etc.
Handson experience of at least one scripting (Python/Shell etc) language
Ensuring high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
Analysing solving and correcting issues in real-time.
Providing suggestions for solutions.
Refining and automating regular processes, tracking issues, and documenting changes.
Assisting developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
Performing scheduled maintenance and supporting release deployment activities after hours.
Experience of writing complex SQL queries with knowledge do SQL tuning.
Excellent communication skills, with ability to describe complex technical scenarios in a concise manner, both verbally and written, and articulating the content depending on the audience
A track record of gaining an understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service.
Candidate should have sense of ownership and urgency, attention to detail, flexibility, process orientation, strong analytical skills, sense of vigilance and adherence to all compliance procedures and policies.
A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change.
Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals.
