Our team in Equities Technology lead the Production Practice globally, we partner with engineering teams, our business, product owners and other practices to ensure operational excellence and stability are at the forefront. About the Role

We’re looking for a Global FIX and Client Connectivity specialist for the Americas region, based in our Toronto office, to lead and grow the practice, enabling engineering teams to build and operate their platforms while adhering to standards, policies and regulatory requirements. You will form direct relationships with trading desks, technology teams and leadership.

You will help us continue the journey of implementing Infrastructure as code, containerization, micro services and using cloud infrastructure, while ensuring the highest levels of stability and control of our production platforms.

Challenging existing processes and ways of working is key to the role, enabling consistent small gains to contribute to the evolution of our business and how it operates.

You will help us build high performing teams and to enable that you would enjoy spending small periods of time in other global offices.

About You 

You’re an experienced production support person with a technical background – ideally comfortable with some coding languages.  You should have experience in Java development and exposure to Cash Equities. You should also be familiar with FIX Protocol and Client Onboarding process.  You can matrix manage within a large team, establishing solid relationships and trust built on proven delivery.

Learning from operational failures is important to you, constantly asking why, using evidence to prove root causes, holding blameless post incident reviews and ensuring solutions are implemented to prevent reoccurrences.

You are an excellent communicator and are comfortable communicating to senior leadership and internal teams such as compliance and can range up and down the detail depending on your audience.  Stepping in to a crisis would not phase you, able to coordinate and run complex operational incidents staying calm and in control of the situation. 

It would be useful for you to understand software development lifecycles and modern software delivery principles such as continuous delivery – in fact you may even be passionate about it.

You are comfortable with change and help drive the evolution of teams and technology.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:  

  • You’re an experienced production support person or Business Analyst with a technical background – ideally comfortable with some coding languages; or a Developer with that’s comfortable speaking with users to gather requirements and providing support
  • Learning from operational failures is important to you, constantly asking why, using evidence to prove root causes, holding blameless post incident reviews and ensuring solutions are implemented to prevent recurrences
  • You are an excellent communicator and are comfortable communicating to senior leadership and internal teams such as compliance and are able to range up and down the detail depending on your audience.   • It would be useful for you to understand software development lifecycles and modern software delivery principles such as continuous delivery – in fact, you may be passionate about it
  • You are comfortable with change and help drive the evolution of teams and technology
  • 2-5 years exposure to Equity markets in a sell-side Front Office environment
  • Hands on experience with development and design experience in core Java.
  • Knowledge of Agile development and methodology
  • Real-time server development, in a multi-threaded asynchronous system environment
  • Strong familiarity with the FIX protocol
  • You should have experience using OMS/EMS and Cash Equities. You can matrix manage within a large team, establishing solid relationships and trust built on proven delivery
  • Exposure with various Exchanges/Market connectivity and trading work flows.
  • Ability to work effectively with the trading desk
  • Flexibility in terms of time (early morning rota) and supporting the trading desk.
  • Familiarity with client on-boarding and FIX certification
  • Experience interacting with external clients and FIX vendors
  • Expertise in triaging and resolving production issues effectively
