We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager - Data Science - CIB DATA TRANS PERF- CHINA.

Principal responsibilities

  • Lead the data science team in WDAC China (Guangzhou).
  • Develop and oversee the strategic roadmap for Machine Learning within the bank, ensuring alignment with HSBC's business objectives and core values.
  • Co-lead the AI Capability Delivery Pillar, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver AI solutions that drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the bank to promote the integration of ML and AI into various business units.
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging ML and AI to enhance customer experience, risk management, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of ML models and applications, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor industry trends and technological developments to inform the bank's ML and AI strategy and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure effective communication of ML and AI capabilities and achievements to internal and external audiences, enhancing HSBC's reputation as a leader in technology innovation.
  • Proactively promote and demonstrate the value of analytics via effective communication & tracking.
  • Provide strategic and tactical inputs to analytical capabilities, systems and data sources.
    Requirements
    • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related quantitative field. PhD preferred.
    • Proven experience in leading ML and AI projects, with a strong understanding of algorithmic foundations and model development.
    • Excellent leadership and collaborative skills, with experience in co-leading teams and initiatives.
    • Strong background in fostering R&D partnerships with external entities, particularly academia.
    • Solid understanding of the financial services industry and its regulatory environment.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Able to drive effective partnerships with other industry players in the local market and create effective relationships with top tier universities to further enhance the abilities and talent of the team.
    • Proven experience in building and leading an analytics function in a large-scale organization.
    • Ability to influence and negotiate with business leaders to drive strategic changes.
