We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of a Associate Director, Service Management Specialist

The Tech team (CIB Tech) works in partnership with the business to deliver innovative, robust, stable platforms to enable investment and financial solutions for clients. These include both vendor-based products and a number of award winning in-house primary trading systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Build and maintain relationships within CIB business, IT and the Risk and Control Organization locally and globally to develop, implement best practices and ensure awareness of current IT risk position.
  • Work within the CIB IT teams to promote desired behaviours and a positive risk culture.
  • Actively challenge poor, inefficient, or excessive controls, related tasks, and behaviours
  • Manage the provision of specialist risk and control knowledge and insights leading efforts to continuously improve and monitor the Risk and Control environment and related behaviours.
  • Identify, assess, and present control risks to relevant forums and senior management, ensuring timely escalation and visibility of key risk issues.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to various control programs to enhance the organization’s risk and control environment.
  • Participate in IT Audits, coordinating with necessary team members to evidence compliance with controls, reviews audit results challenging results where appropriate, and implementing recommendations where warranted.
  • Collaborate with IT development teams and other HSBC teams working closely in a DevOps and agile development processes; Clearly communicate Risk position based on effectiveness of controls, and work with management to ensure a plan for resolution as needed.
  • Provide Senior Management with updates on any relevant changes to policy or projects related to IT risk that have an impact to the Markets Business.
  • Lead and manage the delivery of cross-functional initiatives, ensuring effective project planning, execution, and successful outcomes across multiple teams.
  • Assist IT Service Owners in responding appropriately and effectively to firm-wide risk, cyber and corporate control initiatives. 
  • Partner with Service Owners, Asset Class heads and regional Risk & Control Officers (RCOs) to identify and assess controls, determine mitigating actions and remediation activities, and understand the overall risk profile.

  • Experience in incident, problem, change, and operations management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in all ways, with both technical and non-technical people Understanding of agile environment and ways of working. Be culturally aware and sensitive.
  • Experience in working with remote teams. Have an understanding and appreciation for what it takes to own a technology or service. Positive, proactive, and can-do attitude Influence and champion new ideas and methods. Regularly demonstrate these qualities - drive, motivation, determination, dedication, resiliency, honesty, and enthusiasm.
  • Strong understanding of IT service management controls and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Understanding of DevOps and Infrastructure as a Code concepts and techniques. 
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and manage risks within IT and business processes.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of project management and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Be flexible under pressure. Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
