As Risk Stewards, Regulatory Compliance (RC) Advisors provide advice, guidance, opinions, direction, and training related to the regulatory landscape to the First Line of Defence/business. They support the business in complying with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers and embedding a robust risk management culture in HSBC's business processes

As our Vice President, Volcker and Enterprise Compliance Risk Steward you will:

  • Serve as a regulatory coordinator and central point of contact providing regulatory compliance advisory support on transactions, strategic initiatives and projects that may impact compliance with the Volcker rule and other Enterprise-wide regulations such as the Bank Holdings Act,  Regulation Y – Permissible Activities, Power of a National Bank and others. A solid project management background is preferred. 
  • Foster a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with the Lines of Business and Functions and other compliance professionals to ensure that Volcker regulatory risks are identified and mitigated and confirming that best practices are followed in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, regulations and internal policy.
  • Work with legal and business management to implement regulatory changes to business policies and procedures as appropriate.  Coordinate implementation across the different line of businesses and functions. 
  • Ensure compliance monitoring and internal controls are in place for the regulations under oversight, including management of operational risk in accordance with policy and regulatory standards.  
  • Advise  and/or support teams within Regional and Global Business Compliance  in all areas that may impact Volcker compliance; including assistance in Assurance, Audits and/or Regulatory Exams. 
  • Support the Group's RC strategy by identifying, informing, advising and escalating Senior Management of any developing issues and trends that may impact or be relevant to the Group's management as appropriate of RC risk.
  • Work with the RC Heads to ensure the successful implementation of the Regulatory Compliance strategy.
  • Ensure effective Regulatory Compliance input to the governance and reporting processes impacting Volcker compliance. 
  • Establish management and administrative procedures and processes for own function or region/country, to ensure adherence to policies and manage operational risk, with due consideration to both HSBC and area or Global/Regional/Country activities.

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $138,400.00 and $207,600.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Maintain Steward attention on all Compliance Risks with a primary focus on Volcker compliance and Entity-wide regulations such as Regulation Y, Bank Holding Act. 
  • Maintain excellent communication and influencing skills and possess gravitas and strong leadership type traits
  • Have good knowledge of Compliance Risk Management frameworks, with a focus on Non-Financial Risk Management
  • Consistently and eagerly work on enhancing and upgrading his/her skills leveraging internal and external sources
  • Maintain a positive, upbeat attitude and work ethic and works well in the teamwork environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and demonstrates an innovative and proactive approach to building new and advanced MI and reporting analytics
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent at minimum; graduate degree a plus
