Business: Risk & Compliance

Principal responsibilities

Impact on the Business:

  • Ensure proactive approach is taken to identification of Compliance risk within countries/ regions and potential impacts on HSBC in close cooperation with members of the regional/ country Compliance/ COO functions
  • Ensure proactive approach is taken to identification of Compliance risk change and potential impacts on Business Model in the region/ country
  • Development (and continuous review for appropriateness) of control framework to monitor Compliance developments impacting the business lines in region
  • Ensure timely flow of accurate Management Information from relevant stakeholders / teams
  • Advocates for consistent controls as part of review of monitoring plans across all lines of business.
  • Escalate compliance risks that may have implications on other HSBC Businesses and Functions globally
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside of Compliance at a Global, Regional and Country level
  • Provide wider support and work collaboratively with all members of the Compliance function.
  • Respond to requests for information from teams both inside and outside of Compliance; communicate responses in timely, consistent manner
  • Ensure timely and proper escalation of any issues
Requirements
  • A good understanding of the MSS business – products, processes, risks etc.
  • A good understanding of the global regulatory environment that the MSS business operates under.
  • Significant governance experience at a senior level, including managing senior stakeholders and leading teams.
  • Must have excellent paper/report writing skills including ability to summarise and present key messages to senior leadership.
  • Extremely organised and proactive.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with experience of interacting with senior and executive level staff.
  • Ability to develop approaches and deliver on resultant actions / projects / initiatives to achieve the goals
  • Experience designing and implementing global operating models
  • Proactively identify, design, deliver and implement enhancements to working practices within MSS Compliance.
  • Keeping abreast of changing regulatory developments and anticipating changes.
